La Aroma de Cuba Noblesse

I recall smoking my first La Aroma de Cuba back in the day and stating that if Cuba smells like these cigars, sign me up. Since then, I have moved to and away from the brand...it is just one that I tend to forget about...sad I know. Well, this summer brings the birth of a new addition to the La Aroma lineup. The Noblesse (French for nobility). Last spring, I ended up with a three pack containing the Pepin-blended Mi Amor, Edicion Especiale, and Mi Amor Reserva...which I managed to plow through in twenty-four hours...reminding me why I should feel ashamed about forgetting about this stellar brand. The Noblesse is a blend that was originally only available to Ashton Cigar Bar in Philly and is only available in one size, but now we have the ability to give it a whirl away from that rather high-end locale. Let's get smoking....

Construction: The Noblesse is a pretty rustic looking cigar. Fairly lumpy and a tad veiny. The band is a light blue variation of the red and yellow seen on the rest of the line. Very nostalgic and pretty to look at.

Pre-light Aroma and Draw: Lots of leather and some sweet raisin and tobacco notes hit the nose out of the cellophane. Very pleasant but not anything out of the ordinary.

Light and Burn: Flawless burn from start to finish - nice medium gray ash too. Solid performance.

Tasting: Off the start the Noblesse hits with some very ashy notes that fade after the first three or four puffs. Some black pepper, graham cracker, cocoa, and mild orange peel start thing off nicely after that. The strength is in the middle of the medium range so far but I expect it to pump up higher towards the end. Overall a very nice start.

The middle third starts with the same lineup as the first third and adds some leather, floral notes, and faint caramel. Pepin never disappoints and this blend bears the hallmarks of his blending style yet is very different from the rest of the La Aroma set. I am drinking a cup of Costa Rican coffee as I smoke this cigar and I can say that both play nicely together.

The final third pushed towards medium-full strength. Some notes of toffee, vanilla, roasted nuts, and cedar. Fantastic set of flavors. Some buttery notes and touches of coffee beans just set things off well.

Value: At around $16 this is the most expensive La Aroma de Cuba you can spend your hard-earned greenbacks on.

Final Thoughts: Another well done addition to an already terrific line of cigars. Ashton did a very smart thing when then enlisted Pepin Garcia to helm this line. I greatly enjoyed this cigar from start to finish. It did turn a tad soft towards the end but it didn't cause any problems. Without a doubt, I highly recommend this cigar. At the higher price it will be a good celebration cigar for a lot of people and the flavor profile should speak to a great number of people as well.
